I don't think Trotz's moves had any significant impact on the game, just a good hockey game played by two good teams. Fun to watch!

You don't think that sitting one of your best defenseman and your best goalie impacted the game?

I agree with above poster, no way of knowing if it was a detriment or not, at the end of the day it was a good hockey game. One game, I still think the Caps win this series.

No I don't. I think you're reaching and playing the guessing game again, truth be told, you're not very good at it as you're wrong 9.5 times outta 10!

I am right way, way more often than I'm wrong. I just suck at predictions, but the actual analysis is almost always correct. Sitting a hall of fame goalie is ridiculous, as is scratching your fourth best defeneman. Acting like it doesn't matter because you can't know the outcome of a thing that didn't happen is like saying we should just take everything as it comes and analyse nothing. I'll let you guess what I think about that.

So an average player like Djoos not playing with Carlson is why Caps lost? Laughable

If there's one thing the internet, twitter and comment's sections have taught me, it's that no word has less meaning than the word 'laughable.' Low end estimate here, but I'd wager that at least 98% of the words use describes things that are in fact true, but which the person using the word doesn't have the knowledge/ability to construct an actual argument against.

Where did I suggest I "know you"?

I recognize your name from when I used to come here 3 years ago. Surprised you haven't been let go, or moved on to bigger pieces by this point.

For real?

Can't say I'm surprised. I remember he used to insult anyone who had different opinions than him, consistently degraded anyone who called out his "facts", and made it a point to always act unprofessional.

He was, in large part, why I grew to dislike this site. I had hoped things had changed, but it seems that was a pipe dream on my part.

That's too bad...

Soo you think Djoos is a top flight dman?

Honestly, Trotz isn't going to scratch a guy that is a top dman. He scratched Djoos because he thinks that there are 6 better options, or three if you take which hand he shoots into consideration. Either way, if having Djoos out if lineup affects Carlson's play that much than maybe Carson isn't the guy people think he is.

Hopefully the Caps can rally here.

I've always felt for this team as they have all the talent in the world but never seem to defeat the giants come playoff time. Its a shame when teams like the Caps and Sharks always come up short but teams like the Pens always go deep.

It'll be a damn shame if we never get to see Ovi hold that cup over his head..

I think he was more concerned with mocking your intelligence because you laughed at his stance on the issue...

Typical Tanner.

I wouldn't think so. I'll be honest, I don't likely follow the Caps as hard as this blogger, but to suggest Djoos, and his calibre of play, will affect Carlson that badly, seems to be that of someone who puts too much weight into advanced stats.

Exactly.

More excuses.....

Columbus was the better team 5 on 5 the whole game. Caps only took the lead b/c of a weak 5 min major call on Anderson. Once CLB stopped taking penalties, they got their game back.

So Holtby, who has played 4 seasons as a number one goalie is a lock for the hall of fame? Neat

I found that statement to be odd as well.

Not doubt Holtby is an amazing goalie, but to suggest he's a "hall of fame goalie" based on 4 great years seems to be very premature. I can think of many NHLers who have had ridiculously great careers cut short who haven't made the hall..

As stupid as his statement was, he's not wrong that Holtby, and his track record thus far, should be getting the nod in net...
